Leland H. Wilde Memorial Award
 Associate Department Marine of the Year

Letters of Nomination must originate only at the DETACHMENT LEVEL. No individual nor any subsidiary unit of the Marine Corps League shall submit a letter of nomination.

All letters of nomination shall include a letter signed by the Detachment Commandant and Adjutant, stating that the nominee for Department Associate Marine of the Year was approved at a regular meeting of the Detachment by a majority vote.

All letters of nomination shall be type written on 8 ½" X 11" white bond paper (Detachment letter head if available) and submitted to the Department Junior Vice Commandant (see address below) in a sealed envelope. Only one nomination per letter and shall be mailed, certified / return receipt requested. All nominations must be received (by the Department Jr. Vice Commandant) no later than April 1. Any received after that date will not be considered.

Note: This AWARD is only given to Associate Marine Corps League members, on the Detachment level and at our Department level and is NOT GIVEN @ the National Convention. This is only awarded here in Louisiana. However the Marine of the Year criteria could be used as a basis for selection.

Who is Eligible?
This award shall be presented to a ASSOCIATE MEMBER of the Marine Corps League who has rendered service(s) and / or performed a deed(s) above and beyond the duties and obligations required of a member of the Marine Corps League, or a meritorious deed(s) so identified a being within the scope of these rules shall be of such substance that weight will or shall have brought acclaim and prestige to the Marine Corps League; or has enhanced and / or furthered the concepts of the duties of being a citizen of the United States of America; or a deed(s) of courage or valor without regard for his / her own safety.
